Steve Walton AKA DJ Ivory started his career back in 2001 @ Creation Superclub in Stoke On Trent. Starting as a Light Jock and Technician he worked alongside Judge Jules, Dave Pearce, Trevor Nelson & Dreem Teem to name but a few.
He's always had a passion for music but never quite found his vocation or skill, this is where this enviroment aided his chance to shine.
Since an early age Urban music has been in his blood, early influences going back to motown and soul (Plus seeing Trevor M's (Vibe) Vinyls stacked high as a kid certainly increased his interest).
Whilst at Creation he met another Young Dj starting out who went by the name of Jnr J. Together they spoke about there drives and ambitions for the urban scene in Stoke On Trent and how it needed to improve. Jnr J helped DJ Ivory to hone his mixing ability and thats where it all began. After perfecting his mixing ability he was given the opportunity to work alongside Andy Brown (Vibe & Pink Coconut) to do his warm up and wind down each and every Friday Night, also for Ben Barrs on a Saturday. It was only a matter of time until management changed around and DJ Ivory was given his break, his own nights. The rest is history...
Since then DJ Ivory was Nominated into the final 4 of the 2004 BEDA National DJ Awards within his first year of playing out. Alongside this he met a local Crew of Break-Dancers who had been seen around the town but no-one had given them a chance, they joined DJ Ivory at his residency on a Friday night and have been Resident dancers ever since.
He decided to spread his wings so to speak not too long after this and began pursuing work in other areas of the country. Birmingham, Derby, Telford, Shrewsbury, Sheffield & Oxford being the primary ones. This again helped to create and define his style even more so to cater for the wider audiences.
DJ Ivory is now one of the Midlands most worked and popular Urban DJ's, Signed to Atlantic/Warner record labels street Team and also a part of Live Base ENT. This has provided the opportunity of working alongside the likes DJ Rampage, Tim Westwood, Artful Dodger, DJ Luck N MC Neat, Twice As Nice and Trevor Nelson on occasions.
Weather it be for mixing ability, Tune selection or just general working the crowd, DJ Ivory definitley knows how to create a Vibe and the right Atmosphere.
