“Here’s the dirt on the Sleevesâ€
Regarding The Dirty Sleeves single, it is, genuinely, a hit if ever I heard one. Tight, tough, archly melodic and with sharp lyrics enough to slice your ears off, Big Strong Boys is a welcome, long over-due broadside aimed at those dismaying twits (spelled with an ‘A’) who throw their weight around so much that the vibrations are shaking society apart.
Littered with memorable barbs (“Back off, back off, back off you fat pikey, I didn’t mean to spill your white lightningâ€, “You’re the poster boy for birth control.â€), it’s another perfect snap-shot of the special hell of Britain’s apocalyptic nightlife, and is matched perfectly by One too many’s salutary tale of drink-related sexual dysfunction and hollow amorality. Stunning stuff: Get a sneak preview of both tracks at www.myspace.com/thedirtysleevesuk.
Marco Rossi
Alt indie punk from Weymouth...very good. I think they sound a lot like The Killers with a bit of Billy Bragg but in a good way! Good lyrics, urban tales of Weymouth life. Dexy's Midnight Runners are in here as well. Sharp, angular tunes that are as catchy as fook…hooks hooks hooks. Loads of charm and cheeky charisma. A real singalongable appeal with "Big Strong Boys"in a Kaiser Chiefs way. Actually, most of their tunes sound like hit singles!
