How can be described this spicy band that reject all hasty labelling and attempt to carry out a perilous but nonetheless thrilling experiment ?
For Pain d'Epices is a band full of character : its five musicians cannot be easily won over with marketing pitch... Exit the FM format, blank melodies, simplistic arrangements, a prearranged place in the CD boxes at the record shop; traditional music does not have to be a caricature of folklore : Make way for innovation !
Jazz, Rock, World music, brass, strings, reeds, skins, ninths, thirteenths... Why ! ... they sing on top of that ! It verges on the excess at times ! One would almost forget that Pain d'Epices' music is .... for dancing too !
