Wellingborough is Northamptonshire's third largest town, and getting larger every day. The name comes from Waendel, the man who originally set up a stronghold here and called it Waendelburrie. Over time the town's name has evolved to reflect its five wells (as on the borough councils logo -) Traditionally we make great shoes (like Cox's), meat pies (Saxby's) and the best flour (Whitworth's) here. We also have loads of warehouses for many household names. Everyone in Wellingborough will say hello and talk to you, which is probably the most wonderful thing about the town. We do have some fantastic architecture, and some rubbish. We have some lovely parks, and some awful ones too, but one thing can be said you're never far away from an open recreational space. The town centre needs some love, it could do with some dosh spent on it (plans are afoot) but we do got almost everything you could want to buy. We do have the best swimming pool in Northamptonshire and we also have a fantastic theatre. All in all Wellingborough's great and always smiling!
