Born and raised in New York City. Started playing drums at the age of 8 in public school with the help of musical director George Scott. Studied with Max Roach and Elvin Jones. Influenced by James Brown, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Max Roach, Dizzy Gillespie and Eddie Palmieri.
