About Me

“I guess I just have a great passion for writing and producing music.”A resident of Vancouver, British Columbia, Basil Watson grew up in a musical family playing accordion and piano before adding the guitar to his many talents.“I wrote my first song at age 5 on my dad’s ukulele and called it “My dog has fleas.”By 14 he was playing with a band called the Coastmen, and then later moved on to a band called Trilogy, opening for Billy Preston in 1969.In 1970 he along with two other musicians formed the band Stallion Thumrock. They toured North America, opening for many acts such as the Kinks, Ten Years After, Joan Baez, and Buddy Miles to name a few. In 1972 Stallion Thumrock recorded their self-titled album at A&M studios in Hollywood, California.Basil Watson has had his songs recorded by some great artist including The Powder Blues band, Long John Baldry, Susan Jacks, Lynne Taylor Donovan, and Hoovercraft. He was also instrumental in the recording and production of the Roy Orbison tribute album (This lonly heart) by Larry Branson.Presently, Basil is playing bass with the Ray O'toole band.
