Based out of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA, "701" is a dynamic praise and worship band that was formed over the last two years by students at Liberty University. The band began through the singles ministry, EPIC, where they still lead worship weekly. The band was formerly known as Amplified with its two original members Todd Rukes and Benjamin Wadley who were later joined by members John O'brien, Kristen Mayden, David Einwechter, Daniel Shifflett, Phillip Hernandez, and Collins Pace. In 2007, when their Chancellor and Pastor Dr. Jerry Falwell past away, the band decided to rename itself in memory of the legacy he left as an encouragement for others to leave a legacy for Christ as well. The name "701" was coined as a reminder of where God has brought their ministry from the former location at Thomas Road Baptist Church found on 701 Thomas Road. Since these changes, the band has had an opporunity to play for churches, special events i.e. mission trip fundraisers and Comedy Night, as well as EPIC on Wednesdays nights and Sunday mornings. If you would like 701 to help at your church, youth group, or special event, let us know! We hope you enjoy the music of 701!
Come join us at EPIC, room 1491 at Thomas Road Baptist Church, on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday nights at 6:15 p.m. God bless!
