Butchie’s Old Blues Jam Cassettes

About Me

These are just a few songs from the many hours of jamming cassettes I have saved from the early 80's and beyond. The history behind these tapes is a couple of neighborhood buds making a couple of calls, booking a rehearsal studio on a Friday night, and blistering up for a couple of hours. We were never a band, but we all had a love for the Clapton/Cream style of blues.
All of these tunes were recorded with my old Sanyo boombox using the attachable external stereo microphones and have been converted to mp3 as is.
I recently rounded out BADGE by dubbing in some piano, backing guitar and strings to make it truer to Cream's original recording.
Also, I recently hooked up with my teen bud Meyer Rossabi http://www.myspace.com/bluesman32, and together we produced TRUST YOURSELF, CRASH and our newest abominations, TWENTY ONE and World Gone Crazy, which were written by and features Meyer on guitar and vocals, and myself on accompaniment . The initial tracks were recorded on a Boss BR-864 digital recorder and later ported over to Mackie Tracktion 3 to squeeze in a few more tracks and kick them out the door. I know it's still a bit bumpy on the levels, etc., but this is my maiden voyage with this kind of stuff. Hope you enjoy this work in progress. :)
Getting back to the old tunes, there was no practice involved in those recordings. Like all of our jamming sessions, we basically just called out a song and winged it, as evidenced by a couple of sour notes, as well as some missed cues. Overall, I feel that the good outweighs the bad on those sessions and that's why I've decided to share them here. Thanks for listening!
The true beauty of those performances is the collaboration between Jeff and Anthony on SOTOTW, SWLABR, and this newly posted bastardization of Crossroads, which is the first time Anthony and Jeff plugged in together. You can hear Anthony's guitar getting power at the end of Jeff's second lead. Then Anthony played the leads and Jeff accompanied the end of the second lead in unison.
