Being a coal miner's daughter from the small town of Hazard, Kentucky, Mika Combs knows the true meaning of hard work. Raised up right, her parents instilled values in her that have lasted a lifetime. She is a firm believer in the saying "Do unto others as you'd have done to you."
Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains, you may think that Mika would have her country roots embedded in Bluegrass music...but that is very contrary to her musical style! Her influences run deep from classic rock to country. Artists such as Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin, Shania Twain, and Reba McEntire have all made an impact on her as an artist.
As a singer/songwriter, she puts all of her heart and soul, and not to mention...AGGRESSION in her song lyrics. This also translates to her stage performances. Being the shy and quiet girl in daily life, Mika totally changes when she hits the stage! She has said that "people come to watch a show for entertainment, not just to hear someone sing!"
