Monte Carlo Method (August 2007 - April 2008)

About Me

After The Pax Romana broke up in mid-2006, keyboardist Matt Sexton went in search of a new musical project. After spending a brief period as producer and sound engineer for Mujabica (a band that had formed from the ashes of The Pax Romana), Matt began working with Fantome, a local prog-gazer band with whom he still plays regularly. It was at this time that Matt met bassist Aaron Sorin through a former bandmate.
From the beginning, "jazz fusion" and "progressive rock" were the words thrown around. Aaron summoned Jason Davis, with whom he had been in bands for years, to play drums. At the time, Jason was drumming for Anything But Stressed, a band that Matt had played keyboards for from mid-2001 to late-2002.
It was on a band retreat to Las Vegas in mid-2007 that the trio met guitarist Aaron Rouby who was just emerging from lifetime devotion to asceticism in search of bright lights and glory.
Together, Monte Carlo Method produces an eclectic mix of jazz-infused progressive rock and crowd-pleasing digestible pop. The band's mantra is "good times, great music, and excess," priding themselves in their love of wine, women and song.
(As a side note: Mike Roffman and Jay Ziegler of The Pax Romana are re-forming The Pax Romana in Chicago in 2008).
