FIVE8 is a progressive band from Delhi and was formed in the summer of 2005 at Kirori Mal College. With a keyboard player prone to untimely panic attacks and obsessed with funk, syncopation and bringing that ultra cool "feel" to everything we play; a bass player who brings to the table a rare combination of unbridled enthusiasm, formidable technique and killer rhythm; a guitar player working relentlessly – not just on the instrument but also on a time machine that is sure to bring Vito Brata back for another roar. The last two also heartily agree that that note which theoretically seems "out" MUST be chromatic harmony, otherwise it wouldn’t be sounding so damn good. A drummer who has no issues with meter, technique, genre and causing permanent damage to our eardrums with those overpowering rimshots. His only qualm is the opening of Hot for Teacher, we don't blame him. And a vocalist who comes into practise after sweating it out with an Indian classical choir and undoubtedly hits those exact same notes you heard Sebastian Bach hit a moment ago[with the vibrato and everything;)]. The band also believe that if he sheds a couple of kilos he WILL resemble David Lee Roth and not Rajnikanth.We can't really decide what genre we would like to or do play. That's upto you. What we DO care about is playing well together, sounding tight(and then cranking that up a notch or two), about coalescing our various influences into something innovative and yes, we REALLY appreciate a decent sound check. But please don’t misunderstand, we have a blast on stage either way(that’s what it really is about, isn’t it !).That being said, once we had a couple of songs ready and a name soaked in ambiguity, FIVE8 ventured out into the DU circuit and more...
