About Me
APB is: Ashley Pond- Vocals/Guitar, Sarah Clark- Bass/Keyboards, Eric Halder- Lead Guitar, Scott Smith - Drums.
Ashley Pond left her small hometown of Malone, NY at the age of 18. She moved to Albany, with one thing in mind. Playing music. She frequented open mics and performed at local shows, while writing and recording. In 2007 she released her debut solo album, Dala.
Metroland Magazine named her "Best New Solo Artist" in July 2007. They followed up with a Cover Story in October, formally introducing her to a readership of 100,000 people.
"Her soulful voice sweeps from sassy purr to assured wail, and her guitar work is intricate and interesting." (Metroland Magazine, Vol. 30, No. 29, Jul. 2007)
Dala was on The Times Union’s top 10 Local Albums of 2007. "Brimming over with moody mystery, singer-songwriter Pond's glistening debut mixes folk, blues and rock. Captivating stuff." (Greg Haymes, Times Union- Best Records of 2007)
Coinciding with the release of Dala, was the formation of Ashley Pond Band. Fellow Albany locals- bassist Sarah Clark, and drummer Scott Smith, played many shows supporting the songs off Dala, while rehearsing the slue of new songs Ashley had been writing.
They played North Country mountain bars, big city rock clubs, and hush cafes, proving they could play to any room. They even had the privilege to open for Aimee Mann, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band.
Having saved every dollar they made playing shows, Ashley Pond Band brought their eclectic mixture of new material to Albany’s North Sea Studio in March 2008. In June 2009 they released The Warning.
“Bassist Sarah Clark and drummer Scott Smith lock in brilliantly with Pond’s idiosyncratic folk –blues wail, and Pond’s songwriting is reaching critical mass. The Warning…captures the trio’s deep chemistry and momentum.†(Metroland Magazine Vol. 32 No. 24)
With the new addition of guitarist, Eric Halder, the Ashley Pond Band is continuing to evolve. .
