This band was started in 1999 down at DOG BEACH a.k.a (staircase). by cousins Josh Hyde (vocals/guitar) and Derek Findley (drums). Playing a drinking game with Tim Teahan, Dave Byrne, Wilson and some more thugs would lead them to their name SpeCIAL agENT utAH.Starting off in Dave's garage, they would practice funk and ska covers, until they decided to change their style by switching Josh from piano to guitar, and get more punk with it.Special Agent Utah developed their sound, and started gigging. They recorded an E.P. at (Brotheryn Studios). If you have these tracks, your one of the few. Keep them and pass them down to your grandchildren.In 2003 the lineup changed and a friend of Josh's, Phil Adkins (bass), joined the band. Josh used to play Trombone in Phil's band. Practicing for a couple of months, they were back on track and were stronger than ever. Phil brought a couple of songs to the group that fuckin rocked.Special Agent Utah has played with the Angry Samoans, Yellowcard, 2 Cents, Stole Your Woman and more. They recently played a show for Rock City News under the name (Devilock), which was a tribute to the Misfits. They have played The Whiskey, Ventura Theatre, Knitting Factory, Club Q-Topia, and the Joint and a shit load of bars and backyards. How about infamous OTHER PLACE SHOW, where Josh got his tooth knocked out while he was singing.They just recorded two songs in Hollywood with veteran punk producer Donnell Cameron (NOFX) and are recording the rest of it out of Josh's studio.
