BIO
Mexican-American Quimera (pronounced ki-me-rah) began singing and playing Castanets in childhood, but it was not until the summer of 2007 that she began a professional music career. 2008 became the year of musical style refinement and evolution; Quimera's music proposition began to receive media and fans attention for its uniqueness of arrangements, vocal style, and lyrics depth.
In 2009, Quimera began studying with Vocal Guru Ankh Rah, who was instrumental in her final vocal transition in to a rare Mezzo-Soprano, gifted with Contra-Alto tessitura. This vocal leap afforded Quimera her goal of cementing her trajectory for the specific type and quality of music and vocals that she had been wanting to record from the onset of her professional career.
The six singles being previewed on here on her myspace page, are part of Quimera's self-titled debut album, scheduled for 2009 release.
Quimera has taken solid steps to establish her own unique recognizable sound, which she describes as ‘Symphonic Goth’ a fusion of classical-baroque, symphonic and new age sounds, interlaced with Quimera's almost inhuman and unmistakable velvety voice.
Quimera reaches her audience deep in their hearts with her, sometimes warm and soft, sometimes aggressive and moving voice; no matter if she is singing live or on one of her recorded songs. Her haunting and awe inspiring vocals and lyrics create soundscapes to lose ourselves for a while. Undoubtedly, Quimera has mastered the art of being powerful and sublime at the same time.
The rest, as they say, is a story yet to be written.

"I sing and write what moves my spirit, the type of music that I would like to listen to, I never record a song just to record a song. I am an original, involved in every song from its inception, every new song is a part of me.
Music is the voice of the human spirit. It can go beyond language, beyond age, beyond nationality, and beyond color, straight to the mind and heart of each one of us. Music to me is like the air I breathe, like a spiritual experience.
I believe that music should provoke exaltation. My goal is to make music that speak in that universal language that touches peoples lives, long after the song is over."
