About Me
*RENO BROWN*For all you Hip Hop heads out there there’s one name in the Albuquerque scene you’re going to have to remember. That name is Reno Brown. Coming from Albuquerque, New Mexico Reno had the natural ability to write rhymes. He listened to the Hip Hop greats and developed a style of his own. Armed with and arsenal of Hip Hop quotables, punch lines, metaphors and stories about the south west lifestyle, this young emcee is a rising star. He has honed his skills to the point of leaving audiences speechless. He has a feel good vibe with his party anthems, and also has a point of view in the political arena that is born out of the ghettos of the average Albuquerque citizen. He represents all that is real in life and never comes fake or puts on a front. “I’m one of the illest emcees in the city and I feel like its time that Albuquerque got a taste,†he says.
Having written rhymes for 3 years when he reached 9th grade, he began doing school talent shows, as well as other school events such as the Cinco de Mayo festivals. Having tasted the thrill of cheering people in the crowd Reno graduated and moved on to higher venues. He has performed at most of the local clubs in downtown Albuquerque. He’s done shows at the Moonlight Lounge, The Launch pad, Ned’s downtown, Rally’s nightclub, The District, and Burt’s Tiki Lounge. He started by having local DJ’s put him on the microphone without the owner knowing, to the owner asking him to open for certain acts. He has also performed at many local boxing events. To see Reno Brown perform is a beautiful thing. He has an enormous amount of energy and stage presence. “Your not just rapping when you’re on stage, you have to put on a show and get the people in the crowd involved, make them say ho and all that shit,†says Reno. He has opened up for such underground Hip Hop acts such as Rraahh Foundashun, Awol One, The Typical Cats, Zion I, and has headlined numerous shows himself.
With a couple appearances on the local radio stations he’s had some songs get airplay. 104.1’s DJ AV also interviewed him. He’s been interviewed on 97.3 for one of the boxing matches he performed for. 89.9 has played his music on the Street Beat program they play every Friday night.
Within the realm of recording Reno has experience with all types of equipment. He has worked on programs such as Audio Desk, Sound Forge, Cool Edit Pro, Digital Performer, as well as Pro Tools. He’s had plenty of experience inside a microphone booth and knows how to utilize his voice to fit the tone and emotional charge of the song. Reno can take you from the excitement of a party to the heart breaking reality of relationships gone wrong in a matter of minutes.
With an album in stores and on the streets right now he’s on his way to success. The album is titled, From Here to There (The Unmixed Cuts), and offers a variety of great music. “Politics†part 1 and 2 discusses the things wrong with our political society from the point of view of the average cat, “Amor Del Barrio†is a story about ghetto love gone wrong, while tracks like “Intro†and “Reno 911†are blatant shots at the emcees that have no skill to bring to the table. “I represent the emcee who can put it down for a hit song on the radio, but also the emcee who has actually put time and effort into his craft. To me rapping isn’t just something you do to make money, it’s something you do to get shit off your chest, release tension, and just do because you love to do it. It’s all about the feeling, the realness, and the hardships of life that I put into my music. Hip Hop is all I got and I hope some people can relate to the shit I say.â€
Reno Brown is an explosion of high energy and raw talent in the form of great Hip Hop music. Don’t forget the name, you won’t ever forget the feeling. Reno Brown is here and he isn’t going anywhere. He plans to make it big while remaining real in every aspect of the word “Realâ€. He has one message, “If you love music, vibe to it. But to all you heads out there with no skill its time to step your game up because I’m here to take you out, no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it!................................................"at
