Come and
celebrate Dubspot's two-year anniversary and Ableton Live 8
Sessions NY kickoff with special guest KJ Sawka for a very special
user group and party.
Seattle's own Kevin Sawka (aka KJ Sawka) will perform and discuss
his work, including how he incorporates technology such as Ableton
Live into his inspiring virtuoso drum performances. Kevin infuses
his acoustic drumming with next-generation electronic jungle,
drum'n'bass and breakbeats. Add to this the power of technology,
samplers, laptops and drum triggers, and he's a veritable orchestra
of percussive wizardry.
Then, after Kevin's presentation, DJs and Dubspot teachers will
take the stage using Ableton Live for the celebration of two years
at Dubspot!
Finally, there will be a charity raffle for NextAid, http://nextaid.org/

Pro Review,
moderated by
Craig Anderton, that has started a couple of days
ago and revolves solely around Live 8.
Some people call Craig Anderton a living legend and here you have
the chance to be part of an interactive thread where you can ask
your questions and share your experience or comments. While Craig
is the moderator, Ableton's Dennis DeSantis will monitor the thread
to offer advice and answer questions.

User Group with Baba Israel, Yako and Core Rhythm at Dubspot, NYC:
Ableton makes software for creating, producing, and performing music. Its flagship product, LIVE, has introduced a new approach to making music with computers on stage and in the studio that some call revolutionary. Live has received outstanding feedback from the international press and artists. There are now several hundred thousand Live users worldwide, and the number is growing fast.
Ableton was founded in 1999 and LIVE was introduced to the market in late 2001.
The NY User Group is a FREE and informal get-together hosted by an Ableton product specialist and/or artist who uses LIVE. Each meeting is a great chance for people to get familiar with the product: Monthly hosts present to LIVE users and users-to-be, who are invited to ask questions, share ideas and concerns, and evaluate possible improvements.
The group meets one evening a month at varying locations. Tekserve, SAE Institute, Harvestworks, Scratch DJ Academy, J & R and Dubspot are a few of our past venues.
On occasion, a meeting will be designated for advanced users, but users of all levels are always welcome to join in.
Monthly hosts discuss the various ways they use LIVE and give demonstrations of their work. Ableton has been happy to present artists as diverse as DJ Olive, Kid Beyond, Vijay Iyer, Baba Israel, Yako, Core Rhythm, Matt Moldover, Shawn Pelton, Elijah B. Torn and Everett Bradley.
Come on out and join us! Get your questions answered, share your ideas, network, or just come by to say hello and hang with the Ableton crowd.
