....you look like a friend i look for....

About Me

Ok here goes. My friends call me Blondie and if they know me well enough they call me Shawna.
Um well dont get me talking 'cause I ramble on forever... & I love dogs. (Both of are why being a dog trainer fits with me so well I guess) I have three dogs right now and I also have a Chinchilla too.
I have been a Certified Dog Trainer and an Obedience Trainer for 3 yrs now (although I have been training much longer than that) and I can't imagine doing anything else with my life. I love it. People often ask me if I am any good at my job...every thing is a matter of perspective but...I DO think I am knowledgeable and I have the common sense to do help others with their dogs. Go to my other myspace page . I firmly believe that the animals in my classes should have as much fun as I do and so I practice and encourage kindness towards all animals.
I love going out with my friends (and husband too) and having fun... lots of local live music (Portland is awsome for live music...there are too many bands to remember!), riding one of my 2 motorcycles (a 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit 750cc & a 2004 Suzuki Intruder 1400), movies, drinking, tattoos, eating, coffee, and the like. I love taking landscape photos and painting.
Oh yeh...I am married to Steve Miller from DEPTHCHARGER too. I like to help them out by running the sound mixing board at their shows and act as the "roadie" since every great band needs at least one. Steve and I have been together for 8 years (married 6) and ...I think he spoils me rotten too somtimes. I thank God every day for everything I have.

My Interests

I love to listen to music and go out to see local bands.

I play Battlefield 1942 online because it is addictive and fun. I am an outdoor person too...hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, skiing, generally being outside is fun.

I also love to work, as I said earlier I love being a dog trainer. I love to help DepthCharger with their music too...

adopt your own virtual pet!

I'd like to meet:

myself in 50 years...old, wrinkley, cenile, and blonde....

Music:

I have a pretty wide taste in music. I do not listen to rap or otherwise irritating sounds. If it has exceptional musical quality and vocals then chances are I probably like it. Some of the bands I like are in no particular order... Garbage, Metallica, Massive Attack, Evanesence, Mono, Sneaker Pimps, Kelli Ali, Deftones, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rammstine, Ozzy, Veruca Salt, Frank Sinatra, Eric Clapton, Nirvana, Jem, Bif Naked, Velvet Revolver, GreenDay, The Bloodhound Gang, Poe, Eric Clapton, AC/DC, Hoobastank, DepthCharger (of course), Disturbed, AFI, The Killers, The Bloodhound Gang, Flyleaf, Lovage, Lacuna Coil, The Doors, Megadeth, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Hooverphonic, Android Lust, Tool, Audioslave, Seether, Collide, Damone, Depeche Mode, Lords of Acid, The Offspring, Placebo,
My IPOD is full...Dammit I know there are ALOT more....

Movies:

Anything other than slasher movies or long, slow, boring dramas....So, I like comedy, sci-fi, action, and some horror (if tastefully done) & some old movies too. A small list-(laugh if you want to) Cruel Intentions, Harold and Kumar go to whitecastle, The Count of Monte Cristo, Underworld, Blue Collar Comedy tour movie (both) Interview With the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, The Crow, Batman, Batman Begins, Legally Blonde (NO SUPRISE THERE RIGHT), French Kiss, The Lost Boys, Father Goose, The Hunt for Red October, Hackers, Real Genius, Office Space, Resident Evil (both) Sixeen Candles, Valley Girl, All major trilogys...Starwars, Lord of the Rings, Matrix, Back to the Future, Terminator, American Pie, Blade, Indiana Jones. Ok people...you get the picture...I like a variety.

Television:

Cartoons are cool, SouthPark, Beavis and Butthead, Adult Swim (mainly, Family Guy, American Dad, Space Ghost, Brak, ATFH, Future Rama, HarveyBirdman), & Looney Tunes. I also have to admit addictions to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Nip/Tuck and of course comedians like Ron White (I love those blue collar guys!), Carlos Mencia, Sam Kinnison, George Carlin, and anyone else who makes me laugh.

Books:

Come on...you all know Blonde's dont read ;) Honestly---Anything written by Janet Evanovich, Anne Rice, Many books on dog training and behavior I will suggest some excellent book/authors to you and I would highly suggest reading heavily on the subjects of Dog Training & Behavior both. Anything written by Brenda Aloff, Carol Lea Benjamin, William E Campbell, Suzanne Clothier, Dr. Nicholas Dodman, Dr. Ian Dunbar, Miriam Fields-Babineau, John Fisher, Sarah Hodgeson, Dr. Patricia McConnell, KAREN PRYOR, Turid Rugaas, Pat Miller, Larry Lachman, Frank Mickadeit, Gary Wilkes. These are a few authors that I would suggest starting with, there are many many more but most of these people are considered some of the top experts in dog training and behavior in the world. If you want the best explanation of Positive Reinforcement read the Karen Pryor book "Don't Shoot the Dog" it is by far the best book I could recommend. I am up for anything my friends recommend or that catches my eye.

Heroes:

Karen Pryor- Positive Reinforcment Training Guru, Connie Bacak (My mentor...luv ya connie!) & POSITIVE DOG TRAINERS AND BEHAVIORISTS!!!
