NOT SHOOTING BLANKS....
Two idealist young hardcore kids met on Labor Day in 1994 at a revolutionairies party convention. After the many lectures they both started talking about much more uplifting ideas and matters to revolutionize the world: punk and pressing records.
With an initial investment of $1500.- our first release, still under the two label names: Kaal and Left Wing, saw the light in January 1995: LARM extreme noise terrorism 7". In no time we sold 2800 copies. A bit surprised with it's succes we wondered what we were going to do with the money. Instead of spending it on booze and the then hip rave parties, we decided to do more records. After a few more releases the two names were dropped and we continued releasing records under one name: Coalition Records. The chemistry was right. Never having intended to start a label we were quickly establisching a name of releasing good political hardcore records with quality design and packaging. By 1999 we had released - and have done European tours for - bands like DROP DEAD, SEEIN' RED, 97A, ASSHOLEPARADE, SPAZZ, PALATKA, MK ULTRA, DEVOID OF FAITH, HIS HERO IS GONE, IN/HUMANITY, CHARLES BRONSON and many more. In 2000 the label started to release a different sound as well. It began with bands like JR EWING and OIL and soon expanded with names like WOLVES, PRETTY GIRLS MAKE GRAVES, LET IT BURN, FEVERDREAM, MALKOVICH, SEVEN FEET FOUR and THE JE NE SAIS QUOI. All bands with their own "progressive" sound and attitude but with their feet firm in the punk / hardcore scene. Some of these bands have established names, sometimes getting recognition far beyond the DIY scene. After over 10 years of releasing records, Coalition has evolved from a pure hardcore label into a more eclectic label that reflects our personal taste. Releasing bands that we hope will define the future of the new hardcore, punk and indie underground.
