Guitar: Mal Hill is a full time musician who has recently moved to Melb from country Victoria. He has played many stints at the Port Fairy Folk Festival. He is a long term member of the popular cover band “Luxe’. Mal has played with bands such as “Hiway” “ The Elevators” and “The Motorvators” his particular musical interest is in 60’s Chicago Blues. His influences are Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon. Bass: Pat Wong plays fretless electric bass in the style of James Jamieson. His influences include Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. He was a founding member of the 90’s Brunswick Street blues legends “ Smokestack”. Vocals: Glenda Bancell has had a love affair with music since she can remember. Learning the guitar at the age of 10, she quickly found her voice to provide accompaniment for herself. Having trained with Graeme Clark at the Victorian Music Theatre, a BA in Performing Arts, and a Diploma of Education, she now teaches as a Music Specialist. She has sung in the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Tamworth, pubs, festivals, restaurants and various Melbourne clubs and continues to teach, sing, write, perform and breathe music. Drums: Phil Schomel has been playing professionally for many tears in the Australian music scene with band such as 33 South, Brent Parlane etc. Phil spent a number of years overseas playing the London Circuit with the band Trouper. Phil adds a fresh new flare and drive to the punchy rhythms of the band. Phil has many years behind him in a wide range of different music fields. Vocals and Guitar: Paul Colyvan has lived in bush towns like Narrabri and Tamworth yet is no stranger to the big city having lived in Sydney and Melbourne. He was breastfed on country music and despite himself he cannot be weaned. His voice gives you the impression he's been in the bar since the last time his heart got broke yet he has the young girls' heads turning and the blue rinse set swooning. Paul has played with country bands such as “Whiskey River” and “Redline” he gets inspiration from Roger Miller, Johnny Cash, Steve Earl, Billy J. Shaver, Buddy Miller, Tom Petty, T Bone Burnett, John Mellencamp, Joe Ely and The Clash.Born n’ Bred put all this together to be the hardest sounding and working country band around. They remember where they're from and have the utmost respect for the people who have helped and influenced them.
