I was born on a cold night in the village of Grustni located high up in the Serbian mountains. When I came out of my mother's womb, the village midwife washed my body and found a birthmark the shape of an arrowhead at the nape of my neck. In joy, she exclaimed that I was the chosen one, prophesied to free the village from the gypsy curse. Two hours later, the village midwife found she was mistaken, the arrowhead birthmark was actually just a flap of afterbirth stuck to the back of my neck. She was a sloppy midwife.
