Singing For The Poor & Oppressed

About Me

Timmi BurrellTimmi Burrell aka Clive Burrell was on born in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. He is the first child for Pamela Spence and Hermon Burrell. Timmi Burrell spent most of his early years in Spanish Town where he attended the Makali All Age School. When he was nine years old his mother moved to live in Lances Bay, Hanover. While living in Lances Bay he attended the Cove Primary School, until the age of 12. After primary school he went to the Green Island High School where he completed his education. While in high school Timmi Burrell was a part of a dance group called the Hot Boys, this group was always a hit on school concerts. But it wasn’t until he decided to perform on a concert staged by the Studio 5 Youth Club in Green Island, that he started singing, the response he got from the audience was overwhelming. After this successful singing debut he made up his mind to become a singer. As a result of this new found ambition he started to perform on events at school and in his community. After leaving high school in the early 90’s he was even more determine to achieve his goal despite not being able to earn a living from his performances. His stocks improved greatly when he moved from Hanover to live and work in the tourist resort town of Negril in Westmoreland as a barber. The move gave him the opportunity to be closer to the music scene. Performing under the stage name Lemon he made appearances on events in Negril such as Negril Salute and Reggae by the Sea. From there things got extremely better when he met Negril based producer and artist manager Ralston Barrett in 2001. Barrett was very impressed with his talent and immediately began to work with him. The same year he recorded his first officially released single Tear It Off on Barrett’s B.I.G label. This effort was followed by other singles such as Up and Down (B.I.G Records) & Children Crying (B.I.G Records). He also performed on major events such as the Hague Agricultural Show, Reggae Sumfest and GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza. Timmi Burrell is always improving his musical skills and has been recording a lot of songs over the last couple of years, despite being absent from the scene for a little while. Now he is back and heading towards the big times with several new singles. He has recorded a number of unreleased songs for Ralston Barrett's B.I.G label and other producers such as Computer Paul (Boot Camp Records) & Richard Brown (Isle Of Springs label). These songs feature different musical genres and styles. He has recorded more than enough songs for an album. However he is in no rush to release an album now as he and his management team is concentrating on releasing several singles such as Children Crying, Got To Overcome, Chill & Hold A Vibes, Man Of My Word & Coochie Tight over the next couple of months going into next year. Several of these songs are already in rotation on radio stations both locally and abroad. Now that he is ready to hit the road again a lot of things will be different as he has made several changes including a name change, the name Lemon is now a thing of the past. Since March of this year he has been performing under the name Timmi Burrell. Having done a string of performances on events in his home town of Negril and other areas of Westmoreland he is rearing and ready to touch the big stage again.
