Influences: Pedro Segundo, affectionately known in the music world as "Pocholo," is a world known musician that has worked with the best orchestras and musicians in the Latin and Jazz field. A brief synopsis of his career is as follows: Pedro was born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, on the 13th of May, 1962. He started his professional career 35 years ago working with superstar Salsa singer, Andy Montanez. With the Montanez band, he worked seven (7) years and recorded many of his successful songs such as "Payaso", "Dulce Veneno", "Me Gustas", "Casi te Envidio", etc. He left Andy, to look for other opportunities. On June of 1988, Pocholo arrived in New York City and immediately started working with the Johnny and Ray band, who at the time was very busy working the salsa dance hall all over the U.S. He worked two years with the Johnny and Ray band, and after that, he went to work with Jose Alberto, better known as "El Canario". He traveled all over the world with "El Canario" and many other singers, such as Celia Cruz (the Queen of Salsa), Hector Lavoe, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez, Ismael Miranda, Tito Rojas, Tony Vega, Luisito Carrion, Paquito Guzman, Raulin Rosendo, and Ray Sepulveda. One of the highlights in Pocholo's career was recording with "El Rey" Tito Puente, "Live at the Manhattan Center". Previously, Pocholo directed a band called "Madera Fina", which recorded two CD's. One titled, "Tallando La Salsa", and the second, "Donde Nadie Llego". In March 2002, he traveled to the Dominican Republic for the spectular show in which his band accompanied fourteen (14) salsa singers -- to name a few: Andy Montanez, Paquito Guzman, Lalo Rodriguez, Adalberto Santiago, Anthony Cruz, Hector Tricoche, Nino Segarra, David Pabon, Henry Fiol, Santiago Cerrone, Jose Bello y Jose Alberto "El Canario". At the moment, Pocholo is in the studio recording Salsa music with a Christian theme. He is also recordng with Latin Jazz with pianist Joseph Diamond. Pocholo is also traveling with the famous trombonist, Jimmy Bosch. He performed with the Jimmy Bosch band at the Chicago Symphony and the L.A. Symphony. Currently, he is embarking on his new project with his Salsa Band, "De La Isla Con Sabor".
