Tudósok is one of the most interesting legendary underground bands of East-Europe. Their music is rooted in avantguard traditions and is melted together with hard funk, drum..n..bass, punk, free jazz and black theatre. Their concerts are bursting with energy, epylephtic rhythm, expessive poetry and dadaistic tales.
The group was founded in the late eighties in Novi Sad (capital of Vojvodina province in North Serbia) by novelist, painter and musician drMáriás, who due to the war moved to Budapest where the band resides nowadays. Their music transmits a unique synthesis of East and West through a pure power of improvisation, deconstructed funk, moving "neu"rock and crazy jazz in an original, new scream that is joyful to hear.
Tudósok played Knitting Factory - New York, Bull'N'Gate - London Catapult - Birmingham, Paradiso - Amsterdam, L'Olympic - Nantes, Instants Chavirés - Paris, Magasin4 - Bruxelles, Supamolly - Berlin, Fabryka Trzciny - Warsaw, Alternativa Festival - Prague, all Big Ear Festivals and all Sziget Festivals - Budapest, KSET - Zagreb, Ring Ring Festival - Belgrade, DOM - Moscow, Platforma - St.Petersburg and many more."
