of Detroit and Ypsilanti , Michigan. Since 1999 , the group known as O.C.O has
maintained a consistent underground buzz in the local Detroit hip-hop scene established
there credibility with their unique lyrical content , versatile delivery , and ability to self-
produce and engineer original hip-hop and R&B music for them self’s and other
upcoming artists in their community . O.C.O consists of J Woo a.k.a. Johnnie Cook , Roc
Da Prophet a.k.a. Jamar Allen , Da Count Bobby Drake a.k.a. Marvin Wells , And Young
Boog a.k.a. James Smith. While still artists in the underground hip-hop scene , O.C.O
have accomplished a variety of musical achievements. For example , The group has won
numerous rap battles throughout the state of Michigan, including a statewide battle at the
Shaboom's club in Mt. Pleasant , MI. In addition to the street credibility the group has
earned from the battle circuit , O.C.O has also performed abundant showcases , semi-
apollo’s , and special events such as the 2001 Detroit Hit Team in which O.C.O
performed before several music industry professionals . Along with their broad
performance experience , O.C.O has exceptional discography and recording history
which consists of a long list of self-produced tracks and cameos with many local hip-hop
and R&B artists.
Some of O.C.O's musical influences expand throughout all musical genres including
Rock , Jazz , and Gospel music. O.C.O's primary musical inspirations came from artists
such as 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., and Stevie Wonder. O.C.O states , "Though there are
many great musical inspirations that they have developed their artistry from , our
greatest inspirations are God and family ." They aspire to established themselves with a
credible and respected mainstream record label . Most importantly , O.C.O desires to
become well- respected artists with a successful career in the music industry while
motivating other urban youth to fulfill their own creative passions . O.C.O says “We find
each one of us very unique and creative in our musical skills and has what it takes to
