About Me

You don't become a rock star unless you've got something missing somewhere, that is obvious to me. - Bono.In 2001 a messy dredlocked teenager was handed his first six-string. The sticker-plastered guitar was worth no more than the $50 he paid for it. He was bound to music in some certain way; his mother played the Orchestral Harp and his grandfather was a fabled blues man who could pluck the electric like no other.Born on the 24th of September '87, Deiniol Rhain lived in America for the first few years of his life but really hails from the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Surrounded by an array of raw musical talent and spiritual orientation, the long haired beatnik was pushed into a life of music. His first chord was A minor and the feeling that chord produced was the same pressing feeling of the next few years to come. 2002 is written about the unexpected passing of his late mother. She was 45 and he was only 14. Sometimes the hardest things in life can be the most influential. Blaise Pascal called it the God-shaped hole. Everyone's got one but some are darker and wider than others. It's a real singers thing, missing mothers. John Lennon, Johnny Lydon, Bono, consequently these were the artists that he could relate to and inspired him to write.Deiniol's epic journey since that tragic day has taken him across the world and back all the while putting melodies, chord patterns and tempos into his head. 7 years on and out emerges this delicate collection of songs. Hush is a Jack Johnson on speed like song written about good times, Jenny is about a friends struggle to deal with her father having cancer, Little White Lies was written in acknowledgment of the Indigenous people of this land, Sorry Pap is pretty much self explanatory: Girl meets boy, couple fall in love, girl becomes pregnant, father loses the plot and the rest of the tracks were composed and dedicated to his long time partner who is definitely the biggest influence in his life right now.

Influences: Hmmm.. Don't know where to begin.. No specific influences but I have been described as Jack Johnson/Donovan Frankenrieter on speed.. No, I'm not on speed.. In my free time I thoroughly enjoy listening to the likes of people who can be portrayed as "artists" through their music. I love a song that can take you to a certain place and/or time. These dedicated artists paint their music. Damien Rice, U2, Tunng, Missy Higgins, Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Don Mcleen, Coldplay, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, Ben Harper was a very big influence of many of my songs, Bowie, Cat Power, Claire Bowditch, Sting, Eagle eye cherry, John Butler, Paolo Nutini, Norah Jones, Ray Charles, Tegan & Sarah and abit closer to home, The Beautiful Girls, Angus and Julia Stone, Xavier the list goes on...
