To cure the soul by means of the senses, and the senses by means of the soul.

About Me

To quote many, but specifically one: I am an "odd girl." I feed from rapid change and live to change my surroundings and state of mind. To set the scene of myself, I am constantly perched on the hood of a fast-moving car/boat/plane/train, eyes wide open, facing collision with my future head on, and loving the adrenaline of life in general. I polar-bear swim through the freezing pond of life, and love every hypothermic minute of it. For the most part, I am one of those infuriating people who sees the lesson in every situation, and thus views the world through those cheap, false, proverbial 'rose-colored glasses'.

I am in a period of my life where I am quite satisfied with myself. I have no regrets. I am able to learn from my mistakes, and thus have no grudges, no self-reproach. I have everything I need, and nothing I don't, which is odd considering I am a packrat in the material sense. I keep my emotional self quite clean and organized, however. Therefore, I am in on a level of personal nirvana, or at least feasting upon a slice of heaven.

  • I hate adding to this list, because something new comes up every day

This past year, I became enthralled with Latin music. Any type. Seriously. It's so versatile, it fits any mood, and yet somehow gives you energy when you listen to it. In my mind, in my future life, I will be living in my self-decorated loft in Portland, rocking out to any sort of latin music while doing whatever the hell it is I'll do when I'm at home.

    Movies:

I have seen probably 5% of the movies the average person has seen. It's pathetic. However, when I like a movie, I have probably seen it more times than the average person. My favorite movie of all time, right now, is Thelma and Louise. The rest of my favorite movies are Harold and Maude, Dogma, Amelie, The Meaning of Life (Monty Python), The Birdcage, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, Cabaret and OH GOD, this best foreign film I've ever ever EVER EVER seen, Kontroll...there are more...

    Television:

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.

    -Groucho Marx

    Books:

I just love books. I have too many favorites, but the ones that leap out at me are Lolita, Catch-22, Invisible Man, The Shipping News, 1984, The Brothers Karamazov, The Bridge Over San Luis Ray, Germinal, Mutiny On The Bounty, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Slaughterhouse-Five. This is merely a cross-section of books I have read, specifically books I have read more than once. I am always reading at least 2 books at one time. I adore poetry as well. My favorite poet is probably T.S. Eliot.

    Heroes:

    Erik Satie, at the moment

I always wonder what it means, to have a certain song, phrase, word, picture, or memory conjured at random. What does it mean to wake up singing "Galvanize" by the Chemical Brothers? What does it mean...
