About Me

Zaven Avedis (also simply known by the name Zaven), is the only child of a single mother born in Los Angeles, California who believes strongly in the power of words and music. a product of the hip hop generation, this music was merely the stepping stone which opened him up to the possibilities he found through searching in bargin bins for records to sample and writing lyrics on notebooks and napkins. taking up the drums at the age of 12 and studying the art of rhythm extensively thereafter, he discovered that music was not a hobbie for him, but his life's work and future profession. at the age of 14 he began his study of the piano and composition, writing his first songs and learning of his love for harmony. Zaven turned professional, playing drums and percussion in afro cuban and brazilian samba bands at the age of 16, while he continued to develope his skills as a producer and composer. Zaven now lives in Los Angeles, where he writes and performs spoken word poetry, plays plays piano and produces music for some of the biggest talents in the region. Zaven's dedication to his art is evident by his philosophy on the subject... "Genius to me, in any field, music or otherwise, is someone who puts truth above themselves. One who is focused on the advancement of human understanding and beauty before their own ego, their popularity, or perhaps even their own lives. these are the human beings i admire, and this is what i will work towards every moment on this lifetime until i cease to breath."
