About Me

Hi! My name is Alecia Raymer. Autism is a disorder I hold near and dear to my heart. A few short years ago, my cousin Ryan was diagnosed. The daily struggles that autism provides not only to the child, but to the family is overwhelming. To get Ryan properly diagnosed and in a correct educational program was an uphill battle from the beginning.
Ryan's story is all to common. Millions of children across the United States are suffering from the effects of autism. It is time now for the government to step in and help the families and the children.
Common Austism Facts
-The most common signs of autism are communication problems and repetitive behavior.
-There is no identified cause of autism.
-There is no "cookie cutter" cure for autism. Each child is unique, and through the use of several types of therapy, most children can be helped, if the disorder is identified in time.
-Autism is an epidemic, with more and more children being diagnosed each year.
-This disorder not only affects the child, but the entire family. In the past, negative viewpoints have been established toward autistic children and their family. Slowly, but surely, these viewpoints are being abolished.
-As autism is put more and more into the spotlight by celebrities such as Jenny McCarthy and Vanessa Williams, awareness by the general public is increasing.
