Defiant Hearts

About Me

Melodic hardcore is a tired genre that has been waiting for a band to wake it up. Defiant Hearts is that band. ((Defiant Hearts)) redefines melodic hardcore with its mix of metal influenced lead guitars and late '80s Dischord bands like Embrace, Rites Of Spring and One Last Wish.
Defiant Hearts are a hardcore band that straddles the line of "old-school" territory, but never walks through the door. Caught up in a mix of melodic racing guitars, aggressive percussion, and dramatic lead vocals, the band rises far above the rehash that most modern hardcore has become. The slight peppering of metal into the band's music is tasteful and sparse, with a raw sense of urgency. Defiant Hearts' forgo mosh-part-madness and prefer to keep their songs ambling about. Like trying to grab hold of a slippery fish, the band twists through tempos and verses often, and with little convention.
Defiant Hearts gained a strong following in the New England area from their self released demo and now with the release of Arlington, Defiant Hearts are looking for something much larger than that. This is the band that can unite hardcore kids, metal heads, punk rockers, and indie kids; Arlington has something for everyone.
