About Me

MILEN PANAYOTOV (1967*) has graduated from the State Academy of Music (Sofia) in Composition under Prof. Dimitar Tapkov (1993). He later perfected his skills in composition under György Kurtág, Julio Estrada and Chaya Czernowin (at the Vacation Courses of New Music, Darmstadt, 1998); Prof. Peter-Michael Hamel, Paul Patterson and Alejandro Iglesias-Rossi (at the Course for Young Composers, Radzejowice, Poland, 1997); Prof. Paul-Heinz Dittrich and Prof. Mark Kopytman (at the Brandenburg Colloquium of New Music, Rheinsberg, Germany, 1995). December'2006 - February'2007 Milen specialized with Prof. Mark Kopytman at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance .
Three of his works (Da re diesis al mi bemolle, 1996; No Keys, 2003 & Musica per archi senza percussione e celesta, 2007) have been presented at the International Rostrum of Composers in Paris and broadcast by the national radio stations of many countries worldwide. The list of his works includes also a Piano Concerto, a "Gayshuvir" for orchestra as well as numerous chamber works (What Happened - cl. & p.; No Keys! and Quasi una… - p.; Solo for Double Bass, etc.)
Since 2000 Milen is involved in organization of ppIANISSIMO , an annual international festival of contemporary piano music held in Sofia in March/April.
