About Me
Wayne began playing drums at the age of eight in New York where his
mother, Minnie Henderson encouraged him to play at the church the family attended, The Garden Of Prayer in the Bronx. In 1982 at the age of eighteen, He joined the Navy
and was stationed in San Francisco, California where he was a member of the ship's band. In 1986, he moved back to New York and began working working with jazz musicians such as; Ike Smalls, Nat Dixon, Bill Saxton, Noriko Kamo, and with organist, Rueben Wilson, Jimmy 'preacher' Robins, Bobby Forrester, Radam Schwartz, and Seleno Clarke. He has performed with and recorded with Nat Dixon, Kenny Lee and The Garden Of Prayer Cathedral. In 2002, He worked with Seleno Clarke and George Benson at Showman's cafe in Harlem for the Jack McDuff benefit where the list of
musicians included, Etta Jones, Joey Defrancesco, Pat Martino, and
Greg Bandy. In New York, He had worked with several singers such as;
Annette St. John, Cynthia Holiday, Irene Reid, Emme Kemp and big bands
such as; The Harlem Renaissance Orchestra, The cotton Club Orchestra,
The Bronx River Orchestra and more. Other musicians include Danny Mixon,
Vitti Gory, Ron Long, Fred McFarlane, Eddie Bonnemere, Louis Barnes,
Les Kurtz, Patience Higgins, Gene Ghee, Rahn Burton, Nate Lucas, Bill Kennedy, tap dance legend, Buster Brown, Joey Morant, Damon Banks, Melvin Sparks, The Chiffons, Fred Zarr, Jerry Weldon, Mark Hagan, Mike Hills,
Conrad Adderley, and the Broadway show, 'Brief History Of White Music'.
Wayne moved to Georgia in 2003 where he has performed with musicians
such as; Dennis Springer, Syl Spann, Audrey Shakir, Will Scruggs, The John Peek Orchestra, Clarence Johnson lll, Tyrone Jackson, Moffet Morris,
Mike Blackburn, Kemba Cofield, Ken Watters, Karin Williams, Jerry Byrd and more.
