Path of Reprisal is based in Charleston, South Carolina and was originally formed in the late summer of 2007 by Cecil Campbell and Curtis Mills just a week after the break up of their former band. And although they prefer not to be labeled or limited to a specific genre, their closest fitting classification would be as a "Progressive-Metal Band." Drawing influences from a variety of different musical styles ranging from Metal, Hardcore, Classical and Blues, they display their versatility with effortless execution and devoted conviction. They received notable recognition after playing only a few shows in early to mid-2008 but were forced to take a long hiatus for over a year because of the dismissal and departure of several bandmates due to lack of commitment and personal differences. Taking advantage of their downtime, they concentrated on progressing and writing new material as well as regrouping with serious musicians with the dedication and talent necessary to move Path of Reprisal to the next level. New to the circle are Chris Rea on Drums, Sean Kuhn on Guitar and Jake Rodgers on Bass. Armed with relentless determination, Path of Reprisal displays flawless guitar work with aggressive and razor-sharp riffing, melodic interludes, atmospheric harmonies and fluid leadwork that is the signature to their raw and powerful sound. Accentuating the mighty double-guitar assault, and the foundation of Path of Reprisal,is the wrecking-ball rhythm section with juggernaut blastbeats and smooth tom rolls followed by the earthshaking low end of the bass delivering fluent fills and crushing grooves. At the forefront, Path of Reprisal is given a voice by emotionally provocative lyrical content revolving around relevant topics such as Betrayal, Deception, Vengeance, Resentment, Anger, Despair and Bloodshed, which are composed with brutal, malicious hostility. Wishing to accomplish their goals on their own terms, Path of Reprisal takes the D.I.Y. approach to achieve their destination as a reward for their unmatched perseverance without succumbing to petty trends or subscribing to the standards or expectations of others, while maintaining musical and professional integrity. Utilizing their limitless potential, Path of Reprisal has returned to express their devotion to the honing and sharpening of their craft.
