all songs ©Luke and Adam Hormbrey, twins, decide to knock out a couple of melodies. They've been saving them up since they were teenagers, talking about teenage things. Girls, sex, drugs you would think? No, for Adam he already had his sweetheart and it was 'get a job' settle down' for him. Luke was a little more of a free spirit. He had loved and lost like most of us and in his head was a world full of melody and lyrical brilliance. This was no surprise to anyone who knew them, their late father being a rhythmical master of percussion for the hugely successful band of the 70's and 80's - Supercharge. They were destined to start a rock n roll band
Who's going to get in the way of destiny? Certainly not Stephen Wakefield. After 16 years of playing along with CD's in his bedroom he needs to know if he can cut it in front of an audience. They say in every bassist there is a failed guitarist and in Wakeys case they're right. Why play 6 strings when 4 thicker ones will do? His hero? John Deacon and as Deacon did over 30 years ago Wakey answered a heart felt cry from Schwarzenegger and DeVito.
Things started to move for Local Lads Make Good - (check out Supercharges first LP release for an explanation for the choice of name) and the search started for a guitarist. Mark Jesson came in and led us to victory in our first ever gig, a battle of the bands event at Vauxhall Motors. That was enough for him, he wanted to leave on a high. The band needed a guitarist and boy did they get one. Enter stage right David Evans. One guitar is never enough, three sometimes four litter the stage. Telecasters, Epi's and even a pink paisley strat are stroon around the tiny raised platform in the corner of the Hat. Hot Licks as he likes to be called wows the audience with his take on some modern classics. Their own music is transformed. Songs like 'Alright' and 'Out of Space' wouldn't be out of place in the John Peal tent and you can already hear 30000 people shouting the chorus of 'Glum Chum' and 'Light light shine bright' on the main stage. Yes Glastonbury is where these guys are heading, get on that bandwagon now and say you were there when it began.{}
