Jimmy Fitzerald one off Irelands’s leading guitarist has won a prize to work with the famous Jon Ashley. Eric Clapton and The Who’s producer to work on some off his own original materialJimmy who has played with a host off bands in Galway through the years including the Little FishMamin Cajun Band The Black Magic Big Band and The Screamin Bluecats and studied music in East Africa and India as well as having a line off albums and singles to his credit is delighted with the result The competition with was run in conjunction with the british music industry magazine Sound on Sound which specializes in recording and producing was run during the first 3 months and entries where received from all over Great Britain and Ireland The entries where wilted down to about 100 entries off which Jon listened to these and picked 5 winners in all Jimmy went out to london to work with Jon who is definitely a bit off rock n roll legend beginning his own recording days on a session with David Bowie and has worked since those days with nearly every one in the business on both sides off the atlantic The Eaglesand Level 42 etc It was great, the man was a real gentleman, Jimmy says, and very encouraging about my material at one stage he was going on about my songs so much that it was becoming embarrassing. It is also great because it is very encouraging to be recognized by some one like this. I was working at home in my own project studio writing and recording and some times you can get a little tired off your own style So this is a great boost for confidence and also a recommendation from someone like this can open a lot of doors A new album by Jimmy will be out around the end of September or early Oct so keep your eye peeled as its now coming highly recommended .jimmy is also be included in Universal Records unsigned band project and web site which will be world wide and should be up and running just before christmas
