About Me
When you think about Miami, popular watering holes like Wet Willies, crowded A-list clubs like Opium and Bed and white sand-strewn topless beaches dotting trendy South Beach usually come to mind. but just a few minutes across the bridge, past all the surf and sun and expensive celebrity residences on Star Island, lays a different, less glamorous Miami, one well publicized by local legends Trick Daddy and J.T. Money, and one the WALM calls home.It is in this Miami, in communities like WYNWOOD, OPALOCKA, LIBERTY CITY and CAROL CITY, where things operate a bit differently than the rest of America's 'hoods. Here we ride DONKS, here they smoke crippie or lace joints, here we hit the strip joints (ROLEXUnder the acronym WE'RE ALL LIVING MOMENTARILY, the WALM have made a name for themselves over the years in DADE COUNTY and surrounding areas with their self-promoted album LIFE SUPPORT, which featured "LOVE" produced by former high school classmates COOL AND DRE. The crew also made people take notice with standout tracks like "WHY?", "BONZO", and "CRY LATER" from the complilation WELL CONNECTED, a showcase of Miami's most talented up and coming hip-hop artists. In addition, WALM alongside their WELL CONNECTED counterparts T.R.O, appeared on the track "PROVE IT" from the RICK ROSS hosted MADE IN DADE VOL 3 mixtape.
With songs like "LAST DANCE" and "HIT IT", from the crews's highly -anticapated, intensly creative full-length album, BETTA LATE THAN NEVA, the group is already making noise on underground radio and more importantly in the streets of MIAMI. SOURCE magazine recently heralded the group: "...the spiritually forceful "PREACHER MAN" and their warnings of the traps of the U.S. prison-industrial complex on "THE SYSTEM" will definitely jolt your inner consciousness." (SOURCE Mag Nov. 2005, see View Pics for article)
Like any other family, WALM has seen its ups and downs while grinding and honing its chops throughout the years. Be it prison, dropping out of college to pursue music full time, working dead-end jobs to pay for studio time, seeing the group shrink from three to two members or moving to an unfamiliar city with nothing but studio equipment and a dream, needless to say, WALM's patience has been tested several times since they begin rapping over ten years ago. But WALM is quick to point out that their adversity has only made them stronger and solidified their bond with each other and the family of close friends they represent and speak for
"We're backed by a shared faith. We stick to our guns, man," Falir says. ""We're not the young cats. We're vets down here. We got a following, we know our peers here, even the famous ones. We got a connection to Miami people. At the end of the day, we're honest to ourselves and the listeners. That's rare these days, and it shows in the music."
