About Me

OK, so I FINALLY got a Facebook account! Check me out...

I am NOT ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of GOD unto salvation to everyone who believes!!!

As far back as I can remember I've been a music lover. When I was young, I would sit by the radio and write down all the lyrics to EVERY song that came on. I was always fascinated with the lyrical arrangements and how the singer would start off singing a certain way, but would finish the song differently.
I went from that to writing my own lyrics (raps) and performing at house parties. That was about the time I started singing in the choir at my church. Yes... I was living a double life, LOL! But soon after I got saved, and my lyrics started changing. The raps that I had been writing to perform at the parties, I was now writing to glorify God. After some opposition to me "bringing the world into the church", I slowed down on the raps and God began to put songs in my heart. The rest is history.

Influences: Oooooh... so many influences! Where do I begin?

Stevie Wonder is my all-time favorite singer/songwriter ever!

But I also have to mention Fred Hammond and John P. Kee.

I'm a lyricist first, so when I listen to a song the first thing that attracts my attention is the lyrics: what do you have to say? The artists I mentioned above are the best when it comes to giving you a message with a catchy tune.

NOBODY can play the piano like Richard Smallwood.... NOBODY!!!!

I love the way Kurt Carr arranges his vocals, and his singers are awesome.

Yolanda Adams is the most versatile singer I have ever heard. She can sing any kind of song and make you feel what she is singing. Of course, me being a choir person, my favorites are her choir songs.

There are sooooo many more but these are the ones that come to mind immediately.
Sounds Like: THE GLEN STOVALL SINGERS!

l-r: Katrina Staples, Linda Stovall, Cheryl Knox and Arlan Miller. Not pictured is Glen Stovall, Liz Garmon, Ashley Stovall and Letha Crosby.

Type of Label: Major
