It all started with Marcelo having the idea of forming a group with musicians from different nationalities, to get a fusion of the musical culture of each country. The cultural influences are noticeable in the use of instruments from the Chilean Indians until electric fusion sounds and loops. Still the acoustic jazzy sound is always present. The group started in the beginning of last year, by playing in different jazz clubs in Belgium. Because of the big success, they took the decision to record their first cd. This way ‘Tikitan’ saw daylight. To promote this CD, Marcelo Moncada Space Quartet went on tour in Chile, where they performed at more than twenty famous festivals and jazz clubs.
