About Me

IAORANA ! Thanks for visiting our Page. Foundation for Cultural Dances Fardouz/Roimata No Pacifica was founded in September 1992 with a mission to promote non-western dance arts especially Polynesian Dances( Tahitian and Hawaiian dances ) to a broader public. The founder of the Foundation is Wilma Derksen. The group has performed several times at the Hawaiian Promotion Day, the biggest happening for Hawaiian and Tahitian music and dance in the Netherlands. In 2002 we got a recognition by the LCA (Landelijk Centrum voor Amateurdans), we are considered a unique dance group performing Polynesian dances,as amateurs on a high technical level. Since 2004 Maeva is the orometua of the group. In 2004 we apply for the 2nd European Hula Festival in Zeulenroda, Germany (2-4 July 2004). In 2005 the third European Hula Festival we won 4 prices mainly the first price for the Tahitian performance. We perform throughout the Netherlands on cultural events and have special workshops for children at schools and for elderly and disabled groups. The group maintains its high standards in selecting new dancers to be trained for the show group. There are four levels by training: beginnersgroup (for about 1 to 1,5 year); advanced; advanced plus and top (more than 7 years and depending on experience). Lessons (training) are given by Orometua Maeva Malawau every Tuesday from 19:45-21:45h at DVE Trajanus, sportsfacilities, Staddijk 105, Nijmegen. The top-group trains both in Nijmegen on Tuesday as well in Hoofddorp on Wednesday. The group is supported by many volunteers, dancers as well as volunteers who support the group with technique, music, website, materials.
