VÖLVOR_Womans equiped with magical powers called Völvor(plural of Völva. They did not belong to the religious sphere,rather they occupied a place outside society. The Völva could sejd(foretell the future),bewitch and enchant,propieties which made her feared and respected at the same time. She travelled a lot in the communieties and was called upon when a crop falied or some other misfortune had occurred. She often arrived like a queen with a great following. Her main attrivute was the wand,völvr,which gave her the name. The rituals of the sejt were similar to those of the Lappish nojd,and like him,the völva used a drum._______________________________________________________
