"Great Tracey Thorn-goes-country vocals..."
-Venue Magazine
San Francisco native Tamar Zak-Collins is a London based singer-songwriter showcasing influences from Beth Orton and Gillian Welch to Josh Rouse and Ryan Adams. Her haunting, trademark vocal style stretches out across delicate finger picking and infectious alt-pop melodies to create a sound which combines the resonances of indie folk-rock and Americana into something both excitingly distinctive and comfortingly familiar - coming home after a long time gone.
She is currently recording her debut solo album with studio mastermind Tony Hobden, formerly of Channel House Studios, who has engineered bands like Coldplay and Roxy Music. 'Highways and Barlights' is set to be an accomplished collection of songs featuring some of the most talented musicians in the UK, including former ELO cellist Hugh McDowell and UK Songwriting Contest winner Steven Reid Williams. Set to incorporate coolest jazz drum stylings, moodily delicious bass lines, emotive cello and rootsy pedal steel, 'Highways' will take influences from jazz to country and mix them into what is sure to be both a warm and memorable collection. Look out for the album's release coming soon!
