HOT IRONS C.C.

About Me

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT OUR NEW CLUB WEBSITE www.hotironclub.comWe are a traditional pre-WWII and wartime hot rod club with SPECIFICALLY period correct cars in our club for historical reasons; keeping true to the club's original existance, we encompass neither "rat rods" or "street rods"....history and personal accounts have shown neither one existed in this era. When cars were built, they were often built and driven as work's in progress, real hot rodding as it was meant that more often than not, your hot rod was also your daily driver. It was your mode of transportation, your work truck, it was driven, it was rarely ever any form of show car. On the other end of the spectrum, each rodder strived to make his or her car the best it could be, and would not take pride in the amount of rust it had, lack of flooring, etc. They built them as safe as possible, as fast as was attainable, and as strong as their hands could create them. Paint was often the last thing, and usually always was primer,..it was cheap. As time and money allowed, every rodder improved their car. It was never "cool" to have a run down jalopy that kept deteriorating. That's not opinion,....that's history.....and worth preserving.
The HOT IRONS car club dates back to 1936. Several members of another early club by the name, The Desert Goats, later joined the Hot Irons, as in 1938 both clubs mutually existed...later those members were seen listed as Hot Irons. The Hot Irons original existance was from 1936 to approx. 1944-45 when eventually the club disappeared and other members joined other various car clubs in the SCTA. These men were the real deal, they were there from the beginnings of hot rodding. We are always interested in any additional historical information on the club, (written, photographs, other items, etc.),if you have any, or know of any, please feel free to contact us.
In reviving the club it has become nothing less than a pure love. We are a club that exists as a period correct hot rod club, to share its existence being that its first go-around was from 1936-approx 1944-45.
Existing as a historical club much along the lines of how a WWII living history group operates regarding authenticity, etc. Also, this gives to the outside world a better history lesson and in doing so, honors and cherishes those which have pioneered the way for you and I. Keeping it as it was, pure, unaltered and alive,....a true "living history" just as the phrase suggests. It has become of the utmost importance to share and educate through personal accounts, photos and other ephemera, all dealing with the Hot Irons. To preserve the heritage of hard working men from America's greatest generation. Not to only revere their mechanical achievements and technical skill but to revere the men themselves as the men they were, much more than even hot rods they created, sweated over, bled with and drove. In doing so, making sure the purity and original intent of the idea is never aborted or molested in any way as to bring the club and its reason for its revival to an end or get steered off its path. To honor its original members, their achievements and passion a reality for years to come. To keep alive the pulse that pioneered the way for others, beating as it was and will continue to be, in its original context and form, done as historically accurate as physically possible. Passing history on ACCURATELY, in truth and in good will. Helping and educating others in the community, our fellow hot rodders and the young up and coming men and women that will shape the world of tomorrow.
May the flames of those who have gone before us never be extinguished!
Its been 71 years,....and now the Hot Irons are alive and well again.
