Lauren Lawson is the second oldest of four children of Deacon Lawrence and Deaconess Gertrude Lawson. She was named after Lauren Bacall, one of the silver screen's most famous leading ladies. Born and raised in Plainfield, New Jersey, she has a true appreciation for the beautiful “Queen City”.Lauren grew up in a Christian home with loving, nurturing parents. Their household was a fun-filled one which included singing, family prayer and bible study. From birth, Lauren was surrounded by music and it played a special part in her family.At age 7, she was baptized. She knew at a young age that she loved the Lord and wanted to live for Him. She immediately became involved in church activities by joining the Sunbeams Choir. She led her first solo, “Everybody Ought to Know”, at age 8.One of her most memorable musical accomplishments was placing as one of ten finalists in the tri-state area in the McDonalds Gospelfest Competition in 1999. The competition was televised and took place in Stamford, CT. Although, she did not win, it was an AWESOME experience.A few years ago she realized that her birth names (Lauren Stephanie Lawson) had the same meaning: Victorious – Crowned One. Looking back over her life, the meaning of her names was fitting to her life experiences.Lauren can be heard ministering through song at various churches and venues throughout the tri-state area. She is committed to blessing others using her graceful, anointed vocal instrument. “Let the word of Christ dwell in your richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord”. Colossians 3:16“Great Are You Lord” was written and arranged, by Lauren Lawson, as a personal testimony of her victory in Jesus! She did not have to search far and wide to find the background vocalists for this recording, you see, the singers were handpicked from her own immediate family! She is thrilled to have her father, Deacon Lawrence Lawson, Sr.; sister, LaLoni Lawson; and brother, Lenny Lawson singing powerful background vocals.In addition, Lauren had the “Holy Ghost anointed voice”, of her older brother, the late Minister Lawrence Lawson, Jr. added, as an introduction to her new hit single. In 2000, Minister Lawson went home to be with the Lord at the age of 32 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
