About Me

..
MAY 2009....THE ALBUM'S FINISHED!!!!!!
Hi all, how's it going? Well when we started this mission it was cold, rainy and coloured in gray but we've come out the sunny side with a full album under our arms, written, recorded and mixed - come on!!!!! It's been emotional but it was worth every ounce of effort to finish & the above tracks in the player are the fruits of our labour for you to absorb.
Check out some new pictures below (courtesy of Rick Walker, Paint Shop Studio ) from a recent secret gig we did and a snippet from someone's phone at the actual mix of "Take This Ride" in Beethoven St Studios, London. We're now putting a cunning plan together that has no draw backs...I repeat.....no draw backs & we'll be joining you on a stage anytime soon. Watch this space and let us know what you think to the new choons! Keep on keepin' on.

MIXING THE ALBUM...
SPRING...(Aug, 2008)
The seeds for this London based project, "Colour Of Sound", were sewn at The 100CLUB, Oxford Street on 19th August 2008. Rod's original band "Olympian Fall" had put on the night "MS Calling" to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis - Nizlopi were headlining but their supports inlcuded friends Olympian Fall, Fish! (Harry and Fraser's band) and Jake Morley. This first meeting between all four players was really the birth of this new collective. Going on gut instinct and a love of playing live their new album now has their taken on a life of its own.
SUMMER...(Sept, 2008)
It probably took about 13 seconds of the first jam in a South London rehearsal studio to know that this was going to work. There was no real preparation, no planning on what direction the music should be going in. It just was. But as a 5-piece band that included 4 part harmonies and a Hammond organ then the options in terms of dymanics and sound were pretty wide. And after a few more sessions the bones of an album started to take shape.
AUTUMN...(Oct, 2008)
The album: this was written over a few months at the end of 2008. Armed with an acoustic guitar, pen and paper plus a mic set up constantly on record ideas and phrases turned into music, music turned into songs and songs turned into an album. As everyone was a songwriter themselves or sang in their own projects then there was no shortage of creative input but it's songs like "Pennylan Park" where you can really hear everyone's individual styles working together.
WINTER...(Dec, 2008)
Recorded by Phill Brown and Calum MacColl at a studio in South London, the album was committed to tape in 8 days, the old fashioned way. All tracks were recorded live, everyone performing in one room and on very special occasions the first take was also the final take. The tape is nearly ready for mixing so watch this space for new sounds and colours that will be coming for your ears soon.
