Hey mates im Heath Shaw AFL legend in the making and I am 21 years of age =P. I am a huge footy fan and love my sports!! I was recruited from Diamond Creek/Northern U18 in the 2003 AFL draft at pick number 48 to the might Collingwood Magpies. I made my Debut for the magpies in 2005 Round 17 vs St Kilda at the Telstra Dome playing along side my brother Rhyce Shaw. I played the last five games of the 2005 season showing the Collingwood selectors and my great coach Mick that i am good anough to play AFL football. Not making finals in 2005 gave our team a huge load of time to prepare for the 2006 season. In this time i trained hard, kept up my fitness, improved on my footy skills and i was looking great for the next season. As a late replacment for Scotty Burns i played the first Home and Away game of 2006 for the Magpies against the Hawks. I played an outstanding game and didnt look back from there. Playing some great games helped me to gain an AFL rising start nomination. At the end of the season i finished 3rd in the AFL Rising Star Award. The 2006 season was just highlights after highlights for me finishing also in the top 50 AFL players of the season. I averaged 20 disposals in the 2006 season and had the third most kicks at the Magpies (313). As a running half back taking outstanding game braking marks i am truely looking like a star to be. In the Brownlow i managed to grab 6 votes and that was a pretty good effort for me. Losing the first game of the finals to the Dogs was a huge upset for us but all we could do was pull our heads in, train hard and wait for the 07 season. The 07 season was fantastic with my AFL highlight game against the Bombers on Anzac day. Gaining 39 possesions that game and dominating in the back line surely was a huge help for me to win that Anzac day medal. Carrying a bloody huge pillow around my leg for a couple of games was pretty annoying but i got over it. At the end of the 07 home and away season the mighty Magpies finished 6th on the ladder and we entered the finals race. At the end of the season i managed to pull of 335 kicks and a huge 449 disposals. Not being sellected for the All Australian Side along side a few other Pie greats this year was pretty upsetting. But to get no one in there was just stinking annoying.
Basically Collingwood finished 3rd in 08 and kicking out the last two year grand final contendors was a great effort by us mighty piesss!! And also considering we only lost to the top team (( Cats )) by 5 points was a fantastic effort. And remember we had seven young players under the age of 21 while they had only one.... watch out the Piess will be trouble in o8 and even in more seasons to come !!
Thats right im back in 08 for the new season. I will be dropping in every now and then to update my profile, add pics and have a chat to my mates. Dont forget to support the piez in 08 !!!
08 SEASON IN SHORT - (( SO FAR ))
My season so far has been grea( apart from the one against the Kangas ). i have been racking up many disposals and my rebound 50 work is going great. I have been going up against some big names and have been beating most of them on the ball. This Friday might be a back to back win for collingwood and a back to back anzac day medal for me !!!
