BENJAMIN RILEY GIACALONE

Jennifer Zablocki is the singer/songwriter and creative force behind the band. She teamed up with guitarist/producer Pier Giacalone and they started Kittyhawk in the late 1990’s. They recorded one album and released it themselves. It did well for an indy project, charting on over 100 FM stations nationwide and selling over 2,000 copies.
While recording their 2nd album the band learned of the existence of a previous band called Kittyhawk. A prog rock band that hadn’t released an album since 1983. This kind of took the air out of the tires since this Kittyhawk had been using the name for a few years and really felt connected to it. But they came first so, this band has "ceased and desisted" in using it.
At this point the band has broken up. We tried to make the 2nd album higher quality than we could really afford and as a result it just took too damn long. We outgrew the music while we were making it. There’s still 90% of a great album recorded at this point so while work is being done on new material for a new band with a new name, Pier will mix the unfinished album at home and will put it out somehow in some form. In the meantime, Jen and Pier got married in 2002 and now Jen is pregnant with their first child so they’ve got their hands full.

Stay tuned for the new project! Jen has been listening to a lot of Brazillian music and Pier has been running live sound for Regina Spektor. So they’ve both been drinking in some interesting influences.
BTW, Both Pier and Jen are for hire: Pier is an audio engineer (recording and live) and Jen does graphics. We both dabble in web work too.
