I was lucky enough to be born into a family of bluegrass musicians. Growing up, my family had weekly jam sessions every Sunday with my mom (vocals, guitar, mountain dulcimer, piano), my dad (vocals, bass), my sister (vocals, banjo, mountain dulcimer, piano, guitar), and me (guitar, slide guitar, mandolin, bass, fiddle, and harmonica). It was a steady diet of bluegrass standards as well as Johnny Cash and other country greats.
In high school, I played in a number of punk and hard rock bands, often including members of The Unband . For college, I went to Dominican University in California, where I majored in Biology and played in local rock bands in Marin County.
After college, I spent several years working as a wildlife biologist and traveling around Oregon, Washington and Alaska, often living in tents and remote cabins.
Nowadays, I live in beautiful Pendleton, Oregon.
