About Me

wondertwin was originally formed to be a three piece group that had mark lee (of the pocket foxes, and i know he played in some hardcore bands i didn't go see) on bass, aj chacon (or pen-pal) on guitar. well, that didn't happen. something about a girlfriend being told stuff, then they pulled out leather jackets, even though they were both vegetarians at the time, and started snapping, and dancing, and you know how it ends.
in tears, that's how.
but i (wondertwin), was supposed to play the laptop. not in a joking fashion, either. i was going to do drum machine beats, synth playing, sampling and tone modulation all real time, only with a laptop. and only with shareware.
so, to explaini'd recently seen mc chris live. he has an amazing dj, who i knew only used a laptop to create everything. i was impressed. i went to the show, and i saw what he actually did on stage; press play. he's basically a cd player up there. so i decided to treat the laptop like a real instrument., meaning you play it. and all of it is playable live, or not at all. all of it is free software, and all of the first record was made on a laptop (the very laptop i use to type this now.) here's a list of the soft ware i used to create share.
hammerhead-http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/
my favorite drum machine, and the most powerful one i own. you can insert any tone under 256kb into a channel and go nuts. it's amazing, and it's where i started.
stomper hyperion- http://www.lysator.liu.se/~zap/stomper/index2.html
it's built for creating drum tones, but i basically use it for everything else. i don't really modulate the drum tones, but i can take any mp3 or wav or whatever sample, drop it in here, and mess around with it. wonderful. helped a lot with making the mc longshot beats.
pianito- http://www.soft32.com/download_9709.html
initially, this was the only instrument in creating harmony or melody in the songs, before i learned how to work everything else properly. it's a keyboard, sequencer(which i have never used, in agreement with my rules), and a basic band in a box. lots of options, especially for piano and keyboards. all midi, though. some people don't like that. be warned, though; it's a crap shout. the shareware version randomly pops up an icon that basically asks you to pay for it, which i just won't do. so leave the mouse cursor right over it and get over it.
say it and scratch- http://www.analogx.com/
i can't say enough good things about this company. say it is basically a possessed version of microsoft sam, with a lot of control, and scratch is a digital media scratching program, for getting all wikki wikki. they have tons of cubase patches, which i can't use, but they make all free all quality stuff.
audacity-http://download-audacity.org/?gclid=CPWB6_CDuo4CFQ- 1YgodkHbmwQ
the poor mans protools. i'm really new with it, but basically what i use it for is breaking down samples by the fraction of a frame and modding them from there. fair for legit recording, but it works for what i need it to do.
windows sound recorder - start button- programs- accessories- entertainment-
sound recorder. it's already there.
what? i think it's funny. it's how i got my original samples, none of which are on the record.
well, there you go. the first ep is almost done, it's called share. it'll be free. i hope you like it.
