The DUIs are, and have always been, the CTP on Lead Vocals and guitar and his "hetero-lifemate" and faithful drinking buddy, the Legendary Riggs Andrews on Bass and Vocals. Formed circa 1993, the DUIs quickly found success as their cover of the classic country standard "Wildwood Flower" debuted on the Billboard Country Music Charts at 3 and remained there for an amazing 26 weeks. Fueled by their quick found commercial success, the DUIs not only maintained their self-destructive lifestyle but intensified their drug and alcohol abuse. The band continued to terrorize the Southwest VA music scene for the next decade. Their notorious 1999/2000 Southern Tour resulted in 1 dead band mate, 2 arrests, 16 criminal charges, $20,000 in legal fees, and a torrid reputation which the band proudly carries to this day. Despite this hell-raising reputation, in 2002 the DUIs achieved their greatest commercial achievement backing Dan Tyminski on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack and received the GRAMMY AWARD for ALBUM of the Year (although Riggs and the CTP were unable to attend the award show due to a pre-existing restraining order against them)!!!!! Partly truth and partly fiction, the DUIs uncompromisingly survive today despite constant protests, boycotts, and a general ban from hundreds of venues and gig locations. Thru the years the DUIs have always been a revolving door of junkies, miscreants, and sex offenders. Half of their insane lineup are now either incarcerated or deceased. Screw it... half of those sorry bastards couldn't play anyway!!!! Good fucking riddance. But now the DUIs have re-emerged in the music scene with their most solid and talented lineup to date. Unwilling to compromise their degenerate Outlaw ways, 2008 has already found theDUIs turning down a record deal from the notorious, RESISTANCE RECORDS, whose infamous reputation pales before the South's most wanted outlaws. Look out u fuckers, the DUIs are back with a f'n vengeance....
