Abstinators
The Voice Not The EchoThe Abstinators are a group of teens who promote excellence among our peers. We are committed to fight against poverty, racism, teen pregnancy, crime, materialism, hate, injustice, and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. We want people all over the world to know what we stand for. The Abstinators are constantly finding ways to let teens know that “Abstinence is more popular than you think.†Not only do we abstain from sex until marriage, but also from drugs, alcohol, and violence.
The Abstinators diligently seek new opportunities to spread the message of Abstinence. We currently film, produce, and edit a TV show on DCTV (a local cable channel). It is called “Keepin’ It Realâ€.
During this show we:
• Target teen issues
• Conduct expert guest interviews
• Have fun (a six minute segment of the show is set aside for us to enjoy being ourselves).
We perform vignettes, which are skits promoting teen excellence that illustrate the consequences of risky behaviors, such as sex before marriage, drugs, violence, and alcohol. The skits really engage the audience and influence them to make the positive choice of abstinence.We conduct interactive workshops nationally, which are designed to equip our peers with the skills and information needed to make a difference in their schools and communities. These workshops build a foundation for our peers to start an Abstinator group of their own.
The Abstinators have spoken in many different places including: California, South Carolina, and Washington D.C., and hope to travel to every state encouraging youth to avoid risky behaviors. We give our testimonies and tell why we have chosen to remain abstinent from sex until marriage, from drugs, alcohol, and violence. We also give up-to-date statistics and information on the results of risky behaviors. Starting in a very small town, the Abstinators have gradually grown to be a global organization. Currently, there are Abstinators many different countries all over the world.
It is our passion to actively encourage, uplift, organize, and empower our peers with the message of
“Abstinence, the Obvious Choice.â€
An Abstinator is anyone who wants to raise the standards for themselves and their communities by making a decision to abstain from sex until marriage, drugs, alcohol, violence, and any other risky behaviors that have negative consequences. An Abstinator is also someone who is not ashamed to promote abstinence to their peers. To start a local Abstinator core group, contact us.
