From the gutters of Portland, Oregon, Roulette rose to greatness in 1987 with the release of their first recording, Save Us. Formed in the early 1980's amidst the L.A. hairband movement, Roulette dominated the local Portland metal scene with other bands like Glacier and Outrage. Aside from their strong song writing and intense performances, they were well known for their massive stage set ups, big hair, and bigger than life light shows (Thanks to Fred Ayad) not to mention their penchant for promotion (to this day Roulette holds the record for plastering telephone poles w/ flyers 3000 for a single performance was a regular occurrance & @ least 3 different colors so as to attract the most attention. Posters taped w/ clear packing tape to metal poles in top middle bottom succession for optimum longevity. 10 years after the fact remnants of Roulette posters could be spotted on metal poles) at venues like the Pine Street Theater, where they even opened up for Canadian headbangers Helix, & Original Iron Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno's Battle Zone. While the band went through several personnel changes over the years until they faded away like all the other hair bands into a world of roofing and construction, the original line up featuring Johnny B., Todd Klingler, Ryan Ellsworth, and Troy "Butt" Stutzman were the core members of this almost massive metal band known as Roulette.
